Joy is so powerful; it affects our happiness and is positively associated with emotional intelligence. In my book, The Power of Emotion, I demonstrate how to lead a more joyful and meaningful life.
THE POWER OF EMOTION | CHAPTER 13 | OVERVIEW
Recognize the Powerful Role Joy Plays in Your Life
Joy is the feeling of great pleasure, happiness, and peace, but it's not inborn. It doesn't just happen. To live a happier and more fulfilling life, we must create it. It is entirely within reach – start finding your joy.
How Joyful Is Your Life?
Several years ago, I began to look at my life and question how joyful it was. I realized that it wasn't as optimistic as it could be, and at the same time, I was surprised to learn that I had considerable influence to embrace joy.

Just as our values guide our decisions, joy can guide our feelings, our inner peace and security with ourselves.
Practising Gratitude Leads To Joy
One of the most productive ways to increase joy is to practice gratitude. I concentrated on this topic in my first book, Giving Back, How to Find Your Personal Joy and Make a Difference to Others, and even included it in my newest book, The Power of Emotion. Joy is so important to the quality of our life. I know numerous people who have a daily gratitude practice; it shapes their day and positively impacts their attitude.
My practice begins when I wake up; I take time to reflect on the goodness in my life and feel thankful. Often, I spend a few more moments meditating before I get up and begin my day. This practice prepares me for a joy-filled day.
Wake Up And Choose Joy
Envision starting your day with your first thought being thankful for waking up. That is an excellent beginning to your gratitude practice. It is a moment of joy!
Remember, every day is a brand new chapter. We set the stage and make it the best possible day by adjusting our mindset and choosing joy!
