THE POWER OF EMOTION | CHAPTER 3 | OVERVIEW
Uncover the Power of Emotion with Self-Awareness & Emotional Intelligence
How Well Do You Know Your Emotions?
We live our life bouncing back and forth through various emotions. The common ones we feel are happiness, love, surprise, fear, anger, and sadness. Each plays a critical role in all aspects of our life. Our emotions send us important messages. Sometimes they are red flags telling us to be careful. Other times they attempt to transmit messages of how those around us are feeling. Regardless of the message's intent, it is in our best interest to pay attention and learn to recognize, understand, and manage our emotions.
Ways To Become Familiar With Your Emotions
Taking time to ask yourself what you are feeling throughout your day will help you recognize your emotions. To increase your understanding and self-awareness, you need to feel them as they occur to improve your emotional awareness. This practice will boost your confidence and your emotional intelligence. Be careful not to judge your emotions as good or bad. They are what they are; your goal is to learn more about them and what is causing the feeling in you.
The Amazing Power Of Our Emotions
In my new book, I share my journey of getting to know my emotions and the impact this experience had on my life. When we can read our emotions, we can practise pausing before we react or respond rationally. This ability is a gift, especially when dealing with individuals who bring out the worst in us instead of our best. So yes, it is possible to deal confidently with challenging people confidently when you develop these skills.
